Welcome to the Kaʻaikuahiwi online micro-credential pathway ʻIke Honua: Fostering A Sense of Place. The next course in this pathway for Nā Kula Kamaliʻi ʻo Kamehameha is ʻĀina-Based Moʻolelo: Stories of ʻĀina

This course will analyze traditional ʻāina-based moʻolelo and explore the function of moʻolelo in strengthening a sense of place, building pilina between kānaka and ʻāina, and fostering an innate kuleana to mālama ʻāina. Kumu will learn and explore moʻolelo about and related to their school's ʻāina to support and inform the creation of a well-integrated Hawaiian culture-based education (HCBE) curriculum to meet E Ola! learner outcomes.

The course has 6 required submissions. The submissions consists of overview questions, kumu reflections, utilizing a tool to create a developmentally appropriate moʻolelo, and designing and implementing an ʻāina-based moʻolelo lesson. These submissions were designed to support and enrich the learning. Please plan accordingly and allow time to complete all required submissions.
